My mother had a major heart attack less than a week before TMI and was still in Harrisburg Hospital when it went critical.  The hospital found itself with reduced staff because some of the doctors and nurses evacuated.  Where possible the hospital had to consolidate patients to one floor so the remaining staff could more easily provide care.

Even though she insisted, my father and I wouldn’t consider evacuating without my mother.  The stress wasn’t helping her recovery so she signed herself out against doctor’s orders.  Because of her health and since we were outside of the 10 mile evacuation radius we decided to stay.
