I worked for Metropolitan Edison after I served in the Navy and was the first Public Information Coordinator for TMI from 1971 to 1973. I had a BA in English and had planned to pursue a career in journalism so I needed to learn a lot about nuclear power and the sciences associated with it. I did develop a fair knowledge base and regularly gave presentations to educational audiences as well as civic groups. While I had gone to another career before the accident, I still remained in Central PA and felt both confident and fear during and after the event.
