I was teaching in York County during TMI.  On Friday I was feeling nervous as rumors were plentiful and no one was giving any official word.  I called my brother in Kansas for moral support, and he responded, “Oh, I heard something about that….”  Clearly the news did not carry the same weight halfway across the country!

After school I talked with a friend who had parents living near Chambersburg.  I packed in my car, among other things, my sewing machine and typewriter  (Maybe they could help me earn a living.), and my friend and I headed to her parents’ home.  We were there a couple of days and kept following the news.

I distinctly remember the first time we turned on the news and TMI was not the lead story.  We soon drove home and resumed life as we knew it.
