I was born in 1935 and grew up in North London. We came to Lancaster in 1969. When the TMI crisis was causing much anguish, I phoned my mother in England to explain our plans. Half way through she interrupted me saying “For goodness sake, you lived through the Blitz!” Just before we hung up, she said “If you go you will take the dogs won’t you?”

“For goodness sake, you lived through the Blitz!”

We listened to Dr Denton, remained calm, and never left Lancaster
